Over the last couple of days we’ve been taking a look back at all of the companies who have featured in our Business Showcase section in 2014. You can read part 1 and part 2 on these links.
Today we conclude the round up and take a look at the remaining companies.
29: Business Showcase: HouseMyDog
HouseMyDog.com is a cage-free alternative to kennels. The business was started by two Irish brothers, Timothy and James McElroy. They weren’t happy leaving their family dog Holly in caged and often overcrowded kennels, and they wanted to travel with peace of mind knowing that Holly was being cared for in a real home with a trusted and experienced minder. From that HouseMyDog.com was born.
We spoke with James to find out more about this new company.
30: Business Showcase: Artnouv – Your Art, Your Way!
Artnouv is an online art gallery that provides you with “your art, your way”. They take commissions, paint reproductions of masterpieces and promote artists’ original works while aiming to make art more accessible and more affordable.
We spoke with Kritika Ashok to find out more about her company and the services that they offer.
31: Business Showcase: Creative Nation Multi-Channel Network
Creative Nation is Ireland’s largest Youtube Network with over 3000 partners and 300+million monthly views. Based in Dublin, Creative Nation enables content creators to earn money from their videos with the support of a network.
We spoke with Aaron Quinn, Community Manager at Creative Nation, to find out more about this interesting company and to get a better idea of how the whole process works.
32: Business Showcase: BEUTiFi.com
BEUTiFi.com is a website aimed at helping people operating in the hair and beauty sectors grow their business and attract new clients. Aiming to expand quickly, this start up will provide a centralised platform for these professionals, many who don’t already have an online presence.
We spoke with Rich Spence, founder of BEUTiFi.com, to find out more about the platform and their journey to this pint.
33: Business Showcase: LED Powerhouse
Based in Cork, LED Powerhouse are an online supplier of LED lights and torches. Aiming to “Conquer the Dark”, LED Powerhouse carry leading brands such as Fenix Flashlights and LED Lenser.
We spoke with Sean Hennessy, owner of LED Powerhouse, to find out more about the company.
34: Business Showcase: Txt Tutor – Learning Companion
TxtTutor is a new text service that aims to take the stress out of learning for Junior and Leaving Cert students. Launched in September, the service can send daily texts to students with content specific to their learning needs.
We spoke with Aaron Jackson from TxtTutor to find out more about the service and how they aim to help students with their studies.
35: Business Showcase: climote
climote is an award winning home technology company which provides energy saving solutions for homes and businesses with over 15 years’ experience in developing in-home technology. Co-founded by Derek Roddy and Eamon Conway in September 2011 as a spin out from the home technology company Smarthomes, climote has been described as the European competitor to Nest, which was recently acquired by Google for $3.2 bn.
We spoke with both Derek and Eamon to find out more about their company.
36: Business Showcase: MyPlace Connect
Founded in 2011, MyPlace Connect is a global technology company which is headquartered in Ireland. Initially developed as an advertising platform, MyPlace Connect has grown to become a highly adaptable, innovative, mobile cloud based, hotspot solutions company.
MyPlace Connect now provides free WiFi network services to 10 countries across 3 continents including, Ireland, England, France, Germany, India, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Scotland, Switzerland and the United States of America so that every second of every day someone, somewhere is using MyPlace Connect’s free WiFi service to go online.
We spoke with MyPlace Connect CEO, Peadar Gormley, to find out more about the company.
37: Business Showcase: Clinch
Based in Dublin, Clinch is a next generation talent acquisition platform. Believing the process of identifying and acquiring the right candidates should be far easier, less costly and less time consuming, co-founders Paddy Doyle and Damien Glancy created Clinch and the service launched in January of this year.
We spoke with Maura McElhone to find out more about the company and their future plans.
38: Business Showcase: MobileIreland.ie
MobileIreland.ie is a website that supplies gadgets and accessories for smartphones and tablets. With over 1000 products now available from their online store, Mobile Ireland are aiming to become Ireland’s number one website for electronic products and accessories.
We spoke with Managing Director, John McGovern, to find out more about the company and their future plans.
39: Business Showcase: Cortechs
Built by a team of neuroscientists, entrepreneurs and technologists, Cortechs use brainwave sensing hardware and software to produce an overall package aimed at helping children with ADHD. In an age of over prescription, Cortechs look to provide a non-medication alternative to help children with this condition.
We spoke with Aine Behan to find out more about the company she created, their journey to this point and what the future holds for this innovative company.
40: Business Showcase: Sbaam
Sbaam is a fashion tech company whose mission is to connect emerging fashion brands and designers with customers through the growth and development of an enthusiastic and supportive fashion community.
Hailing from Italy, the team are now located in Cork where they have taken part in the Bank of Ireland Accelerator programme.
We spoke with Sbaam’s editor-in-chief, Alessio Chirivì, to find out more about the fashion centric start up.
41: Business Showcase: Madinks.ie
Madinks.ie was set up to make it easy to buy ink online and offer the most competitive prices in the market. Having just won Best Micro eCommerce site at the 2014 Web awards and Best Digital Retail Experience at the Eircom Spiders, this Start Up is well on the way to achieving their goals and already has plans in motion to expand into the U.K. market.
We spoke with Managing Director Donal Ryan to find out more about their journey so far and how they plan to stay ahead of the rest.
2014 has been an excellent first year for our Business Showcase section with so many fantastic companies featuring. As we expand the section further next year, we look forward to bringing you more great features throughout 2015.
