The Start Summit 2019 – An Environmentally and Socially Responsible Event 8th of June, Dublin Castle

Events take place throughout Ireland every week; often with no thought by organisers to the impact they may be having on the environment. Single-use plastics that take centuries to biodegrade and food that adds further to the world’s carbon footprint all culminate in a lack of social responsibility.

The Start Summit, which takes place for one day on Saturday the 8th of June 2019 at Dublin Castle takes the task both of informing potential entrepreneurs on the best course of action for their businesses and being a responsible event, very seriously.

At the Start Summit all food served on the day is courtesy of The Happy Pear and is fully vegan – adopting a plant-centric diet is proven to help the environment. All food packaging on the day, from plates to forks, is 100% compostable. Water is supplied by Ballygowan in their biodegradable cups.

“At The Start Summit, we aspire to be leaders in the events space when it comes to social and environmental responsibility. We also want to give back to other businesses and entrepreneurs doing the same,” says Jamie White, who founded the event in 2018.”

“We partner with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland to offer a number of scholarship tickets to the business owners making Ireland and the world a better place.”

“We also partner with Reformation, experts in corporate wellness to teach wellness throughout the event. We know how important it is as a business owner to look after yourself and your staff, physically and mentally,” Jamie adds.

About The Start Summit

It starts with an idea for a product or service that won’t go away. All entrepreneurs go through the start-up stage. For their idea to grow wings – the more mentorship and support they receive the more chance they will succeed. Year-on-year entrepreneurial success bolsters the economy.

The Start Summit, a multi-faceted masterclass in everything an entrepreneur needs to know about starting a business return to Dublin on Saturday the 8th of June at Dublin Castle.

Jamie White, who has won Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur twice in recent years, is the founder of the event he hopes will inspire and support the business leaders of tomorrow.

He has founded numerous successful businesses, including CollegeTimes.com and TeenTimes.com; two fast-growing youth websites that collectively reached over 100 million 25-35 year-olds weekly. Jamie now works with brands worldwide on their social media marketing through his business Leading Social.

They were once start-ups too! The Start Summit Speaker line-up includes top Irish Entrepreneurs who have built innovative businesses:

Mark Little: Founder of Storyful

Dan and Linda Kiely: Founders of Voxpro

Now, with the endorsement of Heather Humphreys, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, The Start Summit has become an annual gathering of some of Ireland’s leading business leaders and start-up success stories – to educate and motivate hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs each year.

My goal for this event is to inspire, encourage and accelerate the journey of our early-stage entrepreneurial attendees. We have brought together some of the most successful and intelligent entrepreneurs in the country to speak at The Start Summit, and we are thrilled to provide this opportunity for emerging entrepreneurs.”

Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation said: “The Start Summit is a brilliantly informative and inspirational event for Irish Entrepreneurs in the ideation or early stage of their business journey. It is great that so many government resources available to entrepreneurs and the business fields they need to consider will be showcased all together.”
