Suicide or Survive (SOS) Launches Mental Wellness App

Suicide or Survive (SOS), an Irish charity focused on breaking down the stigma associated with mental health, has launched a mobile application designed to support and assist people to harness their own individual strengths and improve their mental wellness.

Suicide or Survive (SOS) is a community based charity, that works to break down the prejudice and discrimination associated with mental health issues, and also strives to ensure that those affected have access to quality recovery services that are right for the individual. Building on the organisation’s experience of running Wellness Workshops and promoting mental health, SOS has created this free mobile app to enable everyone to work towards better mental wellbeing and to provide people with the tools required to improve, manage and maintain mental wellness.

Caroline McGuigan, CEO SOS said, “We are extremely excited to launch our mobile application. It’s important that we all understand that each and every one of us has a personal journey to mental wellness. The app will hopefully provide people with practical tools that anyone can use whatever their circumstances.”

The app was created from the experience gained through five years of running Wellness Workshops across the country. Research recently carried out by Trinity College Dublin examined the workshop’s effectiveness and impact on participants overall wellness.
95% of participants were extremely satisfied with the workshop, 75% reported that it greatly improved their wellbeing and that this improvement persisted over time. 50% of participants who attended a Wellness Workshop had experienced mental health problems and the single most important motivation for attending was to learn skills to manage their mental health.

The app features include:

· How to take a mindful minute

· Mindfulness diary and timer

· Tracking device for you mental wellbeing overtime

· Feed your wolf of hope

· Watch short video presentations
