Intellicom invests €100,000 in Data Centre Expansion deal

Indigenous telecommunications service provider, Intellicom today announced a major data centre investment valued at €100,000 to expand its hosted telephony and voice termination services to domestic and international customers.

The deal with partner, Continent 8, at its Tier IV-ready data centre at DataPlex in Dublin provides wholesale connectivity, co-location, power and cooling facilities for Intellicom’s hosted IP telephony and data services and complements existing data centre tenancies at Telecity, Dublin and Cork Internet eXchange (CIX).

Strong business growth in cloud-based IP voice services, advanced call-centre software applications as well as growing demand for competitively-priced SIP Trunks and voice termination services for existing on-premise telephone systems and Microsoft Lync deployments are behind this latest infrastructure investment.

Commenting on the development, Neil Wisdom, managing director with Intellicom said:

We chose Continent 8 due to their existing international footprint, the high spec of their data centre facilities and the flexibility of their service offering.  In Ireland, their exceptionally-efficient power rating, indirect free air cooling and presentation to over 20 national and international carriers on-site gives us the scope to continue to grow our international business in hosted voice and data services, at commercially competitive rates for our existing customers and new customers into the future.”

“We’re also looking at additional nodes in London and one other European metro area and hope to make subsequent announcements within the next 12 months.”

Welcoming the partnership with Intellicom, Peter Williams, director of global sales at Continent 8 said:

We are delighted to get this opportunity to partner with Intellicom at our Dublin data centre location to support the company’s growth.  Our global private MPLS backbone along with 10 global data centre locations positions Continent 8 as the ideal partner to support Intellicom’s future geographic expansion.”

Intellicom was founded in 2005. The company has grown strongly since establishment and specialises in software development, voice and data telecoms services, contact centre and IP-based telephony solutions for wholesale and retail public and private organisations of all sizes.  Its customers include well-known brands such as call centres, 11850 and Europcar and private sector organisations such as Sentenial, Maynooth Business Campus, Sports Surgery Clinic, Autoline Insurances and Carton House Estates.
