Eshopworld’s Tommy Kelly Named Business Person of the Year

eShopWorld (ESW) Founder and CEO, Tommy Kelly was named Business Person of the Year at the Business and Finance Awards 2020, in association with KPMG Ireland.

The coveted Business Person of the Year award recognises noteworthy achievements in business leadership, and, particularly, those that make a telling contribution to the wider business community in Ireland.

Kelly led ESW through a period of substantial growth which reported sales of over €543 million for 2019, and a near doubling of revenues to €902m for 2020, following strong growth that was further accelerated by a post Covid-19 spike in ecommerce activity across all its major markets.

In 2020, the cross-border e-commerce business announced the recruitment of 160 new staff taking employment at ESW to over 500 staff by the end of year.

ESW has also been recognised as one of Ireland’s best workplaces by Great Place to Work for the second year running. The assessment process included a comprehensive employee survey and a thorough cultural audit of company policies and practices, which is then benchmarked against other organisations in Ireland.

Commenting on the award for Business Person of the Year, Tommy Kelly, CEO of ESW said:
“I’m honoured to receive the award for Business Person of the Year on behalf of ESW and to have been nominated with such esteemed colleagues in the Irish business industry. Last year was a significant year for ESW as a company, we hired more talent, we were agile in the face of the pandemic and launched a suite of new initiatives in areas like Shopper Experience and Demand Generation.

Throughout the global pandemic, consumer demand for online shopping grew and the awards recognise the hard work of the dedicated team in ESW.”

ESW provides in-country global eCommerce solutions to global brands, allowing them to localise their online store in up to 200 markets around the world. Founded in Swords in 2010 with a team of just 6 people, it now has offices in the US, UK and Singapore, and employs over 500 staff.
