Primary School Students Animated Video on Internet Safety Saves the Day
On the day that the digital age of consent has been set at 16 years, it seems ironic that these little people are showing us all exactly how clever they are online. Watch this video to see the incredible work of pupils at the Blarney St CBS (Deis School in Cork city). they are brilliant.

This was the question Trend Micro asked the youth of Ireland this year in their annual ‘What’s Your Story?’ video competition. The students of Blarney Street CBS Cork won the competition 8-12 years category for their clever 60-second video which focused on dangerous links online. Click here to watch the winning entry –

A global leader in security software and cybersafety, Trend Micro hosts “What’s your Story” globally each year to encourage dialogue amongst young people on issues such as media literacy, online trust, privacy, cyberbullying and internet safety. Finalists were identified through public viewing and rating on the ‘What’s Your Story’ website and judges from Webwise, CyberSafeIreland, Twitter, Facebook, Young Irish Film Makers, TY Ireland and Smart Futures had the difficult task of choosing the overall ultimate 2018 winners.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Global Programme Manager for Internet Safety at Trend Micro, Avril Ronan said, “Sharing the important message of online trust in such a creative, funny and educational way is what made this video stand out. It was catchy, kids will love it and what an effective video to engage people of all ages in the conversation about who and what we can trust online.. Blarney St CBS School Principal Billy Lynch praised the video competition saying, “By participating in the What’s Your Story competition, our pupils worked together as a team, discussed online safety and trust issues and ultimately created a really fun and engaging video.
