Sky Sports News App has been a late comer to the Android Party. It was originally released about two years ago but  then quickly disappeared from the Android Market. No excuses were given but it has now returned looking very like the iOS version!

The App starts with a summary of the top ten news stories form all categories. There is also an option to filter your news stories from these particular categories:

  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Rugby Union
  • Rugby League
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Formula 1
  • Boxing
The news articles are a mobile version of what’s on their website and includes videos where applicable. Each category has other options such as fixtures, results, tabels and a list of what will be shown on Sky TV. On match days there is also running commentary feeds available and a live scores overview.

All in all a pretty straight forward, well designed App that usually functions just as you’d expect. When Sky Go launches for Android in the near future we may see some live TV integration.
