Rumer: being creative, making music and being a parent during a lockdown

In this episode of Irish Tech News, we get to know British singer, songwriter Rumer when she speaks with Sangeeta Waldron, openly about the challenges of moving back to the UK in the middle of the pandemic; juggling motherhood and song writing; London bus dramas; the importance of the arts; and gives us a glimpse into her childhood.

Rumer is a wonderful song-catcher, who has written songs like “Slow” and “Aretha,” which made her a worldwide million-seller. Her 2010 debut album, Seasons of My Soul, was certified platinum in the UK and Ireland, earning her a MOJO Award for Best Breakthrough Act. She has an instinct for the work of others and has introduced her fans to musicians from the yesteryears.

Burt Bacharach and Sir Elton John are fans and in 2012 Rumer was invited to perform at the White House for the Obamas. Her latest album, On Nashville Tears, recorded in Nashville is the catalogue of songwriter, Hugh Prestwood, a songwriter whose name is spoken with reverence in country music. Nashville Tears collects fifteen of Prestwood’s finest songs, many never recorded until now, revealing truths of the heart, both intimate and universal, realistic and romantic.

You can find more about Rumer on her official website and book for her live tours.
