Resilience, 10 habits to thrive in life and work, reviewed

While resilience may be a popular buzzword, often closely tied to dealing with a VUCA world (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) it is also an apt and relevant concept too. From the get go the author Jo Owen puts up some interesting concepts and examples to consider. This worked for us and had us hooked, engaged and cross referencing his ideas with our own path in Irish Tech News and the fluid and changeable waters we have been sailing in.

The book is written with relevant and accessible case studies. As the subtitle suggests too, this book is aimed to help in both work and life, which is a smart approach as many, if not everyone now lives in more changeable times. One study suggests the average time spent in one career, let alone one job, maybe eight years or less. In such a VUCA world your ability to adapt and make changes on the fly will only become more important and helpful to you.

Many books we have reviewed recently have made big promises about their ability to help you deal with change. They have often then dealt with this topic in varying ways. This book seems to grasp the mettle better than many of them and would be one of the pithier, more useful books to read as we move into 2020 and beyond.
