ReduxBuds True Wireless ANC Earbuds Review

The ReduxBuds are a set of Active Noise Cancelling earbuds that were successfully funded through Kickstarter.

The ReduxBuds are feature-packed and include most of the specs people look for when buying a set of true wireless earbuds.

We were recently sent a pair to review and have been putting them to the test for the last few weeks. Read on to see how they fared.

What’s in the box

As is the case with most earbuds these days, you get a set of 3 different sized silicone ear tips, a USB C charging cable along with the charging case and earbuds themselves.

Design

There are no prizes for guessing what inspired the design of the ReduxBuds. The buds are very light which makes them easy to use for prolonged periods and even though it is hard to believe they’d stay in your ears, I couldn’t shake them loose enough to fall out.

The extended stem design allows for the mics to get a little closer to your mouth and during our testing we found the audio quality to be quite clear when called by someone using the ReduxBuds. There are just three different sizes of tips included so if you may have to use your own if your ears fall outside the included sizes.

ReduxBuds Specs

As I mentioned above the ReduxBuds come with just about all the specs you could look for in a set of wireless earbuds.

Sound is delivered via a 7mm graphene-coated dynamic driver.

The ReduxBuds come with Active Noise Cancellation but also have a transparency mode which allows some sound to pass through from the outside world.

The battery life is quoted as being 10 hours for the earbuds with an additional 100 hours available via the charging case. In real-world terms with ANC on and the volume pushed towards the top, you will get closer to 4 to 5 hours of usage before needing to return them to the case to charge.

The ReduxBuds include touch controls that allow you to tap or press and hold on the flat surface of the earbud to perform common tasks.

Voice assistants are supported for both Android and iOS.

The earbuds are IPX5 rated which means sweat or brief showers of rain won’t be a cause for concern when exercising.

What are they like to use?

The ReduxBuds were easy to pair with any device using Bluetooth 5.0 and we had no dropouts or issues with connections while using them.

Active Noise Cancellation – whether this is needed with earphones is always a little bit of a contentious issue. Clearly, when you are inserting something in your ear it creates its own noise cancellation but with earbuds due to their looser fit people may find it of benefit to have.

The obvious places for testing ANC such as on public transport and in an office are kind of defunct at the moment so the two places I have tested this is while driving and at home with the hustle and bustle of 3 young kids playing in the background (to be clear, this was only for testing and I do not recommend you drive a car while wearing active noise-cancelling earphones!).

While using them in the car I compared them to another similar pair of earbuds that did not have ANC and there is a noticeable difference in background noise. Likewise, at home, I could listen to music over the ambient noise without any issues, but they are not magic so don’t expect them to filter out all noise.

Assisted by the ANC, the 7mm driver does a good job across the frequency range and provides an enjoyable listening experience with the only thing to note being that volume can be a little low on some tracks.

The ReduxBuds are light and extremely easy to wear for extended periods which make them very suitable for the office and for commuting.

Conclusion

The ReduxBuds are available to purchase now on sale at $125 from this website and are worth considering if you are in the market for a set with active noise cancellation.
