Irish Continental Group signs IT deal with Auxilion

Shipping, transport and leisure company, Irish Continental Group (ICG) has signed an IT support deal valued at over €500,000 with Irish owned Auxilion following a competitive tender process.

Under the three-year deal, Auxilion will remotely manage and monitor ICG’s IT infrastructure across Ireland, the UK, France and the Netherlands.

Publicly quoted ICG, which reported revenues of over €335m in 2017, operates a virtualised IT infrastructure to support its ferries, container and port operations businesses. Since 2000 the group has invested over €500 million in new vessels, port infrastructure and acquisitions making it the leading Irish marine transport operator.

“With passengers and corporate customers booking and conducting business online, our IT Infrastructure is critical to our ability to service customer needs. We selected Auxilion because of its track record in high quality 24x7x365 IT support across borders,” commented Seamus McCarville, Head of IT at Irish Continental Group plc.

“As well as proactively managing and monitoring ICG’s infrastructure estate, Auxilion will support its Oracle and SQL database platforms which underpin business critical ferry reservation and container shipping systems,” commented Mark Buckley, sales manager, Auxilion.

“As we look to the future, it is reassuring to know that we have the support of a company like Auxilion which has led the way in successfully implementing digital transformation and hybrid programmes for other corporates,” added Seamus McCarville.

“Auxilion’s reputation as one of the leading cloud consultancy and support organisations means that it is an ideal partner to bring us on the next wave of transformation including consulting services across the Microsoft cloud stack such as Office 365.”

“Our customers like the fact that we deliver more than managed services,” added Mark Buckley of Auxilion. “For example, we provide ICG with a “Design Authority” capability. Through this collaborative forum we ensure that any proposed changes to the ICG IT infrastructure are aligned with and integrate with the existing IT landscape.

“The forum coordinates and tracks changes and is responsible for conducting reviews and approvals, ensures compliance to technology and security, and provides guidance and policy change where appropriate. This makes sure that its ICT infrastructure grows in a consistent manner and is aligned with future business needs and strategy.”
