What an exciting year this has been! As 2016 is coming to an end, global job site Indeed looks back at some of the year´s key moments, and how they impacted jobseeker behaviour in Ireland and around the world.
January 2016: Job Search Spike
Indeed noted 44% increase in job search in January 2016, compared to December 2015 shows that candidates believe that there are more roles open at the beginning of each year.
June 2016: Brexit
Britain´s vote to leave the European Union plunged the continent into a state of crisis. Businesses and banks disliked the uncertainty, of course—and so did jobseekers.
After the official results were announced, Indeed saw a 73% increase in job search leaving the UK, and surges of interest towards EU-member Ireland and other English-speaking job markets.
The Olympic Games were the event of the Summer. As the whole world travelled to Rio de Janeiro, jobseekers in Brazil were busy looking for roles related to the Olympics, with job search increasing 28% during the summer months.
November 2016: Trump administration
In the run up to the election, Indeed spotted an increase in searches for jobs within the Trump Administration and at his many companies. This shows that despite all the controversy, a large number of US citizens would like to work for the newly elected president.
