Golden Discs to launch in 80 Tesco Ireland stores

Tesco Ireland, Exertis and Golden Discs have partnered together to launch concession stores in Tesco in a three year partnership. The arrangement will see Golden Discs concessions open in 80 of the 148 stores in Ireland from today, Friday 18th November.

Golden Discs at Tesco concessions will operate as standalone units within Tesco stores offering the latest movies, music, and games along with very compelling promotional activity. The agreement makes Golden Discs Ireland’s largest home-entertainment retailer with 94 locations nationwide.

Sheila Gallagher, Commercial Director, Tesco Ireland, said the established Golden Discs brand aligned with Tesco’s reach made the deal with Exertis an ideal fit. “Tesco is committed to providing our customers with the best retail experience possible and to supporting Irish suppliers when the opportunity presents. We are delighted that our customers will be able to enjoy its innovative range of home-entertainment offerings and music, movie and games products as part of their Tesco shop.”

“This is an exciting new chapter for Golden Discs,” said Stephen Fitzgerald, CEO of Golden Discs. “Marrying our product knowledge and specialist credentials with the geographical reach and scale of Tesco will both enhance the customer experience and grow the business.”

Established in 1962, Golden Discs currently operates fourteen stores around Ireland and employs over 150 people. Golden Discs has grown its business in recent years, launching new product categories and opening new stores including recent superstores, on Dublin’s Henry Street and Dundrum Town Centre.
