“Building great products that scale” is the focus of product management practitioners and so is ProductCamp Dublin, which is part of a global series of free collaborative, user-organized, unconferences. Started in Silicon Valley by tech start-up veteran and product exec coach Rich Mironov, ProductCamp Dubli is now in it’s fourth year and takes place on June 16th at the Dublin Institute of Technology.
With origins in the Irish Software Associatiation, tech and software product management are well represented. Major multinationals and startups come to ProductCamp to learn from, teach to and network with their product management peers. In keeping with trends for global startups, this year FinTech will be particularly well represented.
Sometimes described as ‘responsible for everything with control of nothing’, product manager and product management tends to operate in small teams. Product management can sometimes be lonely with few peers to swap notes. Whether you are a product management leader or individual contributor the focus at ProductCamp is on participation. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share war stories and get new ideas.
Collaborative Unconference
This is not a ‘talk at you’ event (and those can be great!). Rather at ProductCamp participants propose sessions they’d like to discuss or lead. Then on the day the agenda is assembled from participants votes. You can see this year’s confirmed sessions here. Career discussions are typically popular, as are practical topics, such as UX or product roadmap prioritization. Ideas that help you ‘get things done’.
User Organized
Before the day a volunteer committee make it happen; logistics, sponsorship and more. On the day, the focus is on participation starting with session voting. The cost to attend is your participation.
“Acutely aware of the competencies and skills needed to create scalable, market-leading products, DIT is delighted to host ProductCamp Dublin.” said Dr. Claire Mc Bride, Programme Director. “Designed in close partnership with DIT’s College of Business and the Irish Software Association, over 30% of companies from startups to established multinationsl in the IT sector have derived significant benefits from participation since the programme’s inception in 2011.”
Founded with the support of Irish Software Association’s Product Management Working Group and ISA Software Skillnet team, this year ProductCamp Dublin is delighted to have support for the product management community from: the Dublin Institute of Technology, Fineos, Balsamiq and ProdPad.
