What was the inspiration to start it?

I am originally a filmmaker who thought expensive equipment was acting as a barrier to creativity. I found filming with my smartphone allowed me to tell stories with immediacy and made the whole filmmaking process easier. I found i was able to streamline the filmmaking workflow and condense it all into a single device and this to me was empowering. I started the event to showcase the best and brightest of mobile filmmakers today and to act has an inspirational tool for people who want to tell stories but find the technical side to filmmaking alienating

What exciting things can people look forward to?

Hopefully an event that changes people’s perspectives of what can be achieved on a single device and inspire people to use the device in their pocket to tell their story, that’s all you need

What opportunities are on offer for people and companies attending?

The goal is the legitimized smartphones as a viable storytelling device. We use it every day via social media to tell our life story, abet a story that we edit ourselves so in a way we are all already filmmakers. For people attending the event there is an opportunity to see what is the current state of the Smartphone filmmaking industry, meet like minded people, discuss best practices. For companies attending their is a chance for them to connect with their potential audience. If you are a company selling smartphone equipment it’s a chance to position your product has essentially equipment of choice for a growing engaged community.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Just bring your phone. Chances are once you get an insight into outstanding work being done both nationally and internationally you won’t look at the device in your pocket the same way again.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

At the moment we are still accepting submissions for the event. This can be done here. Tickets for the event will go on sale in December and this will be announced through the festival website once confirmed.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

We have a huge number of amazing prizes that we have been given from a number of Smartphone Manufactures world wide including Grip Gear, Shoulderpod, Helium and Pro Shot to name but a few. Submissions for the event are closing on December 1st
