It can be a highly complex and difficult task to upgrade enterprise systems, because they have been built up over time, with some potentially in operation for decades.

These systems may be running different versions of software, which can’t talk to one another creating data silos. There may also be customisations that IT teams have added that if unpicked could cause systems to break down.

One person who knows about this all to well is Eric Helmer, CTO Rimini Street and Ronan had a chat with Eric about this.

Eric talks about his background, some of the problems businesses face when they decide to do digital transformation, legacy systems and applications and more.

More about Eric Helmer:

Eric Helmer leads the Strategic Services Group for Rimini Street, where he drives technical solutions for clients around advanced security, functional services, license management advisory, technical roadmaps, assessments and cloud selection/ migration services.
