Black Friday is yet again set to be the busiest time of the year for Currys PC World, Ireland’s largest electrical retailer with sales predicted to increase by 20% compared to 2017.
To support the expected increase in online visitors, the company recently launched a state-of-the-art website platform with lots of new features and functionality to improve the user experience.
This year, the retailer estimates that there will also be a 30% increase in order volume for Black Friday alone, with a spike in traffic as savvy customers research the best deals ahead of Black Friday.
However, shoppers can avail of discounts earlier than Black Friday with the Currys PC World Black Tag Event. Taking place from 16 November – 5 December, it’s set to be the biggest Black Tag event yet with discounts across smartphones, washing machines, TVs and much more.
For Black Friday, the retailer predicts the hottest home items to be Samsung QLED and 4K TVs, Dyson Vacuum Cleaners, the Samsung Quick Drive and high spec built in appliances. On the fitness and wearables front, Apple Watches and Fitbit Fitness trackers are expected to be top of the list. Audiophiles will be flocking to pick up both Beats and Bose Headphones. Google’s Home Mini is also set to be a must have for Irish shoppers along with Samsung tablets. Coffee lovers will perk up for Delonghi Bean to Cup coffee machines. The retailer also expects HP to the most popular laptop purchase this Black Friday.
Commenting, Declan Kenny, Head of Commercial at Currys PC World Ireland said: “We are predicting strong growth this year. The most recent report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that overall retails sales in Ireland were up 6.5% in September alone compared to the same time last year. Based on customer interactions and our own sales data, Black Friday 2018 and the week before and after it are set to be our biggest yet. On Black Friday, November 23, we will have our flagship stores open from 7am to ensure customers get the best deals possible. At Currys PC World we’re offering customers 18 days of deals this year in our biggest Black Tag event ever with savings across some of the hottest products for Christmas 2018.”
