Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Lisk is a blockchain application platform that will enable its users to build applications from the ground up in JavaScript. The decentralized platform will allow for the deployment, distribution and monetization of side chains onto the Lisk blockchain. The Lisk network is operated using a highly efficient Delegated-Proof-of-Stake (DPOS) consensus model, which is secured by democratically elected delegates. The cryptocurrency underpinning the Lisk platform is called LSK.

Lisk was founded by Max Kordek and Oliver Beddows in 2016, in their stellar crowdsale they attracted 14,000 BTC in fundings. Lisk is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, the popular crypto valley for blockchain startups.

When was Lisk founded?

In 2016, after several years participating within the Blockchain industry, myself and Oliver Beddows saw a lack of developer adoption. With the vision to make the technology more accessible, we imagined a Blockchain framework which accelerates and simplifies development.

How are you different?

I have not yet seen a modular open-source framework which allows you to deploy your own public blockchain with smart contract technology and become part of a bigger network. Most solutions are either single blockchain based or are tailored for private blockchains. We uniquely enable developers to deploy their own sidechain with a custom token onto the Lisk network.

Why will the company/product do well?

Lisk aims to bring the concept of Blockchain technology to the ordinary developer and consumer. We are breaking down existing barriers of entry to blockchain application development, by providing a consumer friendly product. Our product will enable the seamless development of blockchain applications.

Where are you based?

We are based in the Blockchain capital of the world, Zug, Switzerland.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Our biggest win to date has been the release of Lisk Nano 1.0.0 which is aimed towards making blockchain accessible and simple to use.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

We are aiming to attract applications developers especially those using JavaScript. We are targeting developers within and outside of the blockchain space.

Tell us about your team?

We have a highly diverse team with a variety of IT, Business and Tech skills. We have hired a team of 15 people from over 11 different countries and counting.

What are your long term plans for your product/company?

Our aim is to enable developers to enjoy an innovative, safe, and seamless blockchain application platform and consumers to enjoy the fruit of that innovation, firmly establishing blockchain applications as part of day to day life.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We mainly use our MacBooks on our day to day work so I would say that’s one of my favourite tech gadgets. I’m also deeply in love with the iPhone, it provides so much power and accessibility while being mobile.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

Not to help us per se but I would love to have Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) headsets become popular. I cannot wait for all the possibilities it will enable. Additionally, it would be amazing to integrate artificial intelligence with blockchain technology.

Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?

All my life I wanted to delve into mathematical fields such as computer science or electrical engineering as well as economic fields such as entrepreneurship and startups and investment banking. Upon discovering Bitcoin in January 2013, I was immediately captivated by it, realising it hit all the right boxes. Over the years it became clear that this technology can do so much more than transfer digital tokens, therefore I saw the need for a blockchain framework to ease development. That’s what we are aiming for with Lisk.
