Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
iCompareFX reviews and conducts in depth comparisons of top International Money Transfer companies. As providers can support different currencies and services it is important that a potential customer know which company best suits their personal or business needs.

How are you different?
Unlike some of our peers, iCompareFX provides peer-to-peer comparisons. For example, Ireland’s own CurrencyFair Vs TransferWise. This example would be up there with the top five money transfer comparisons that people want to see before they choose their fund transfer partner.
Why will the company/product do well?
Our information is constantly updated and checked for accuracy. We have new comparison tools under development to make it even easier for visitors to compare money transfer features and prices. This will help us stay relevant to our visitors by maintaining high quality standards on the information and data we provide.

Where are you based?
I am based in Sydney, Australia. I moved here in 2007 and am loving it. Saying that, we might move the operation to Toronto, Canada. It’ll be a whole lot easier to visit the family in Dublin and the snow is better too. 😉
When was the company launched?
We launched September 2014 so we are coming up to our three year anniversary. We hope that we can provide quality information and comparisons for years to come.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We are now in a position that providers are actively seeking to be reviewed and compared on iCompareFX.com. This means that we can insist on independent reviews and opinions. This is something that could have caused relationship concerns in the early days.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
Expats, entrepreneurs, import / export and global freelancers are very important to iCompareFX.
Through personal experience, it is initially difficult to trust and settle on which provider you or your business will use. Personally, I use more than one provider depending on my need.
If I am just transferring money online then I will check the live rates on offer with each provider and choose the best value on that day. If I need to request money from an international 3rd party, then I may use TransferWise’s Request Money Feature to maintain privacy of my banking details. If I need to send money regularly between Australia and Europe, I may choose CurrencyFair so that this process can be automated.
Tell us about your team?
We have a multi-cultural team made up of Irish, American, Canadian, Indian, Macedonian and Filipino. Most of the team were found using UpWork. Another great tool for small businesses or budding entrepreneurs.
It is hard to find good team players that work well with each other towards a common goal. When you do, make sure you hold on to them. It’s hard to find in the global workspace.
What are your long term plans for your product/company?
We are currently working with our providers to tap into their Live Rates API’s. This will allow us to not only provide feature comparison but also live price comparison should you wish to compare the exchange rates on offer and amount received after fees.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
I am a closet techie. I love how gadgets and smart software can help keep business moving while maintaining mobility.
I would have to say that my new AirPods would be right up there. I was surprised at the hands free voice quality.
I cannot live without my phone for fast access to information and for wireless hotspot. But my Acer Swift 5 is my most recent purchase.
However, what is your gadget without some great software? I am a big fan of Microsoft Edge browser’s new markup technology. Add that to Techsmith Snagit and you have a killer combo for communicating effectively with a global team.
I am also looking into BLRT.com as a potentially super powerful collaboration tool. So far, it looks very promising.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I would like to get my hands on the Microsoft Surface Pro. For now, it is a little too heavy with a hefty price tag. I am looking forward to see the weight and price tag drop. That is the only way I will buy it. I love the idea of the pen but I would probably not get a huge amount of use out of it. Of course, this does not stop me from wanting it!
Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?
