Describe the company – the elevator pitch …?
Cognition uses technology to create a level of intelligence that businesses haven’t historically been able to access. Our unique capability allows us to optimise business assets in real time to save money and reduce waste.
How are you different?
We focus on the data challenge rather than a particular business function. This enables us to save money and reduce waste wherever that may be in an organisation whether it be in energy, maintenance, asset management, compliance or even people. We also understand that it’s not just about technology, it’s about understanding the dynamics of complex organisations. We major on the trapped value lost in the Human Machine Interface. We use humans to diagnose and assure the problem then we use technology to sustainably track it and make the solution smarter.
Why will the company / product do well?
Our expertise is organisational transformation so we have worked on ERP implementation, growth, decline and investigations – we understand the cause and effect in organisational dynamics.
Where are you based?
Our HQ is in Dublin and we have an office in London
When was the company launched?
We are a very new company and launched in February this year at the Dublin Tech Summit.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We’ve signed up some great partners who see the value of our proposition and want to collaborate with us to take this capability to the next level quickly
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
We’re looking to help managers and operators who are trying to respond to the challenge of cost effectiveness without wanting to sacrifice focus. These would be in companies with vast quantities of data and sizable operational costs e.g. manufacturing, retail and data centres.
Tell us about your team?
We are an Anglo-Irish firm with a leadership team that has over 50 years combined experience in management consulting, technology and Big Data. We have worked with each other for many years and came together to form Cognition because we recognise the value of the right team in developing something amazing.
What are you long term plans for your product / company?
We want to provide the operational intelligence for firms that assures they are running the leanest, most compliance and most cost-effective operation possible. We want our clients to have the confidence that Cognition will always find ways of making the organisation smarter. We will continue to grow the capability to support that aim.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
We love voice-activated productivity tools, as our company mantra is centred around making work more efficient and freeing up the worker to have a calmer, more value-adding and less rushed experience.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
We really keen on AI at Cognition and we’re focused on playing our part in making our client organisation smarter; so having a live intelligent email system that loads decisions and files reference materials via an automatic decision tree!
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
We know we’re at the forefront of automating activity in big firms but this gives a great opportunity to free up staff to focus more on the value-adding activity that the digital age has removed from the average manager
