Casey Business Consulting provides affordable support to small businesses to help them solve problems, grow and develop. Small businesses can’t afford the exorbitant rates charged by the large consulting firms, but nonetheless would benefit from the advice and experience of outside experts from time to time. That is where Casey Business Consulting fits in. The savings and improvements made as a result of my involvement usually cover the cost of the services within a few months.

With my engineering background I am ideally suited to supporting businesses from the engineering and technology sector.

How are you different?

Casey Business Consulting is different because I am a small business owner. Like all small businesses every customer counts and I go the extra mile to support them.
Also my background makes me a little different. I have an engineering and business background. The engineering part makes me a logical thinking and a problem solver, while the business part makes me results driven. I understand it’s ultimately about the bottom line.
I have first-hand experience of running a division of a large multinational and of running a small privately owned engineering company. Over the years I have dealt successfully with all the challenges outlined above. I apply the best of both experiences when working with small business owners.

Why will the company/product do well?

Because I care and I go the extra mile to help customers to succeed. It all about delivering results for my customers. Many of my new customers are now coming thought referrals and this is an endorsement of the results I have help customers to achieve.

Where are you based?

I am based in Clonmel, Country Tipperary. This is a great location as it allows me to support customers throughout the Midland and South East.

When was the company launched?

The business was launched in March 2015.

What is your proudest achievement to date?

My proudest achievement to date is the steady and consistent growth I see in my order capture rate. This is most satisfying because it has been achieved through applying my own tools and processes successfully to the business – these are the same tools and processes I introduce to my customers.

What type of people are you trying to attract to your services?

My target market is small businesses located in the Midlands and South East. In terms of size it is everything from sole traders all the way up to companies employing 40 or 50 people.
The nature of the business doesn’t really matter. The tools and processes used can be applied across all business sectors. However with my engineering background I am ideally suited to supporting businesses from the engineering and technology sector.

What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?

I think there are a couple of key things all business owners and managers should do.
They must have a vision of the future – what do they want the business to be? Having a vision and converting this vision into SMART targets and action plans is critical to success. Having a destination in mind for your business is no different than having a destination when you plan a journey. If you don’t know where you are trying to get to, you will just drift along. For instance if I get into my car tomorrow morning and just start driving, I don’t know where I’ll end up. However if I decide I want to go to Dublin, two things happen – firstly I will almost certainly end up in Dublin and secondly I can plan the best route to get me there.

Once they have set targets and developed action plans, it’s important to measure progress on a regular basis. This does a few things. Firstly it will allow you to measure progress. Seeing progress being made gives you the confidence and encouragement to keep going. Secondly it gives you motivation to make the extra effort – for instance if it’s the last day of the month and you need one more order to reach your target, you will make that extra phone call or send the extra email. Because now tomorrow is too late – the delay of a day does make a difference. Thirdly if you don’t see progress it forces you to have a re-think about what you are doing – do you need to rethink the actions plans or indeed reset the targets.

What are your plans for your product/company?

The long term plan is to remain small – I’m a firm believer in the expression that ‘small is beautiful’. I love the independence of working for myself and it’s the engagement with clients that I enjoy most.

I want Casey Business Consulting to be synonymous with excellence. I also want to be the consulting business of choice for small businesses in the Midlands and South East.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

I’m not really a teckie, but I love my i-phone. It’s my portable office, my entertainment centre (music, video, social media and tv), my organiser and my promotional tool. When I started my first job in London in 1988 the office had one desktop and WYSIWYG was just becoming commonplace – the developments since then just amaze me.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

I have recently added the provision of training courses to my product range. A pico projector is on my shopping list. Armed with a pico projector in one pocket and my iphone in the other I would be able deliver a professional presentation anywhere I go. I find that amazing.

Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?

I love to get input from small business owners and managers. My business depends on providing the services and supports most needed by them.
