Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
The fastest and easiest way to order, pay and earn rewards in great cafes and restaurants. Orders are placed based on your location, customers get real-time notifications on when your order is being prepared. When you get notified your order is ready, you can skip the queue grab your order and go. It’s ordering in your own time.

How are you different?
In a lot of ways, but to name a few we’re building based on the current change in customer behaviour in the 18-35 (millennial demographic) which we understand very well. With Bamboo, orders can be placed based on the customer’s location, which gives the merchant an estimated time of arrival. It’s a responsive system, so the customer gets notified when their order is seen, prepared and ready to collect. It’s like someone’s queuing for you. Also, there’s no added cost to the customer, in actual fact, they’re saving money because they automatically earn and redeem loyalty rewards. This is only very small part of what we plan to build, our roadmap is very exciting which you’ll see over the coming months.

Why will the company/product do well?
There has been a dramatic change in customer behaviour in the last few years. People are more inclined now more than ever than ever to make buying decisions based on time and convenience. It’s something that our team understands and has a passion for, so we feel our timing is right.
Where are you based?
When was the company launched?
This week, January 2017!
On average people spend 11 minutes of their lunch (an hour a week!) in a Q.
Ain't nobody got time for that!

What have been your biggest wins to date?
It’s early days but we have a few. Firstly, we raised €70,000 pre-seed from Enterprise Ireland and Stepping Stone. It was big for us coming out of college because it meant we were able to give 100% and go full time, as well we were incubated in my former college, NCI’s business centre in the IFSC. This meant we could build a small but productive team, which is shown through how quickly we’ve built our infrastructure. The partner merchants we have, and we have lined up are fantastic. The launch too, it was a soft launch which will be done area by area but it’s a huge step going from months of development cycles to a product that people are using every day.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
It’s a two-sided marketplace so B2B and B2C. At the moment it’s primarily, independent merchants that offer casual restaurant experiences for example cafes, burrito bars, salad bars and even doughnut shops. Our users are 18-35 years, from students to working professionals.
Tell us about your team?
There’s five of us and we’re all under the age of 23, so we’re never short of energy. This is partly one of the reasons we got so much done in such a short space of time. What I suppose is sort of unique for a bunch of 20 somethings is how passionate we get for the solution we’re building. We just look at places and see so many flaws in the current transactional process, which is why we see such an opportunity.
What are your long term plans for your product / company?
We have a really exciting product roadmap which we want to build out over the next six months, where the product will change a lot. Dublin’s very small so we are also exporting very quickly, we see huge opportunity in Southeast Asia and a lot of European cities.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?
I suppose my favourite pieces of tech are the ones I need the most so my iPhone and Macbook.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I think we’ve reached a point where it’s no longer the hardware or gadget that’s exciting, it what we’re doing with it. AI is something that I wish I could use in more in my day to day, more than a chatbot or a targeted ad. Though, that will change the more we use it of course.
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
Are you raising? We will be.
