BARE in the Woods, June 9th – 11th Garryhinch Woods, Offaly

By @SimonCocking. Interview with Brendan Morrissey about this event.

When is it on?

BARE in the Woods is on from June 9th – 11th Garryhinch Woods, Offaly

How many years has it been going?

This is the 4th year. It sells out every year and won One day Festival of the Year for the past 2 years. This year it’s also up for a Irish Hospitality Award.

What was the inspiration to start it?

I came on board as a partner after last year’s festival. We’re growing it from 1 day to 3 days camping + 10,000 capacity this year. We used the MobStar App, one of my tech companies, to source much of the talent at BARE this year. Artists upload 15 second videos to MobStar, the world votes in real time so the best talent rise to the top. We picked artists like Craic Appeal, Chasing Abbey (who have a brilliant new single out) plus another 50 acts.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

So many exciting artists to see like Kiesza, House of Pain, Mike Skinner, Helmet, Right Said Fred, Akala, Whomadewho, Rubberbandits. We tried to stay away from run of the mill talent that you see at every festival. We wanted to keep it eclectic where you can see bands like Right Said Fred beside cutting edge UK grime acts.

There’s artisan food villages, children’s games area, Spokenword and Comedy from Headliners Andrew Maxwell, Karl Spain & Farmer Michael & Kathleen. We’re running a MobStar stage so come along to check out the very best talent in Ireland.

We also partnered with KoKo Club in Camden London. They’re running the Burst Stage with some of the biggest hip hop & grime artists in the U.K. That will be a very exciting stage.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Get a weekend ticket. Kiesza, Jon Stevens from Inxs and Right Said Fred are playing the main stage on Friday so don’t miss that. We have partnered with Pamper de Camper to take the hassle out of camping. Your tent will be set up including inflatables, pillows, mats etc so a very easy solution to enjoy the festival. We also have Glamping options that holds 6 people. That’s a posh way to enjoy the weekend.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

Tier 1 and 2 are now sold out. Tickets are available nationwide at Ticketmaster
