Augmented reality marketing conference, Dublin April 29th

By @SimonCocking

This looks like an interesting event. Even if you’re not completely sure, or perhaps especially if you’re not completely sure what augmented reality marketing is, this could be something useful to check out!

The second European Augmented Reality Marketing Conference takes place in Dublin, April 29th.

Building on the success of Europe’s inaugural Augmented Reality Marketing Conference last year, this will take place on Wednesday 29th April at the Croke Park Conference Centre.  The larger venue reflects the interest from marketers, creative and digital specialists, production and technology sectors including the engineering, architecture and medical professions.

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality experts from the US, Europe, UK and Ireland will share their advice and knowledge in how creativity and technology have combined, and demonstrate how it has been incorporated into our lives.

Two distinct streams have been created;

1. Industrial – Architecture, Construction, Engineering and Medical;

2. Consumer – FMCG, Gaming, Retail and Tourism.

A new aspect to this year’s conference is the Business Exchange, allowing access with experts to discuss development and applications.

Alex Gibson, @thepersuaders, lecturer at DIT and broadcaster, whose passion for imparting information and insight is the driving force for bringing the event to Dublin again.  Announcing the 2015 conference he said, “I am absolutely delighted to host the conference for a second consecutive year and in a larger venue.  Having a personal interest is one thing but receiving great feedback last year from speakers, attendees and panelists, underpinned the importance and hunger for knowledge about augmented reality as a means to help businesses move forward.

It is becoming more integrated as a tool for marketing communications and also as a mechanism within sectors such as medicine, architecture, engineering, gaming and property. Uses of Augmented Reality have never been more in demand.  It was vital to secure high calibre speakers and panelists, further proof of just how timely the conference is.”

The first speakers and panelists confirmed to date are;

Based in Hong Kong, the internationally recognised consultant and expert in mobile technology and the author of six global bestselling books, Tomi deems Augmented Reality to be the next mass medium to forever change world interactions.

CEO of Amplified Robot, based in London, he is an Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Expert and evangelist.  A writer and contributor to media blogs and considered one of the greatest thought-leaders in the digital media and AR/VR sectors, his career started as a film editor.  Over the past 30 years he founded one of the UK’s largest creative post-production groups, VTR, and consults internationally within the broadcast post-production market.

The founder and CEO of iTagged, a ‘next generation’ Augmented Reality platform, he has been working globally advising companies such as Sony, Virgin, Intel, Apple and Microsoft in technical innovation and media.

  • Dave Lorenzini

A welcome return from last year’s inaugural conference, Dave is the Founder of Glassware Foundry based in San Francisco.  A true visionary and pioneer in visualisation, he is driven to change the way people look at the world and how technology enables them to experience it.

Head of PR and spokesperson for Betfair, Barry is a constant force in driving brand consideration, awareness and acquisition within a specialised and growing industry.  He will elaborate on how AR technology fits and sits as a medium to successfully develop and implement creative PR strategies.

Feedback was so strong regarding the hands-on opportunity attendees had to experience wearing devices, and explore the applications that it has been brought back and expanded to allow for greater interaction.  This in turn provides a demonstration platform that would be of interest to Creatives and Client Directors from Advertising, Digital, PR and Marketing agencies, CMOs, Marketing Directors, Heads of Marketing, Marketing Managers, Brand Managers, Product Managers, Category Managers, Digital Marketing Specialists, App and Gaming Developers, IT Consultants, and Graphic Designers.

Reaffirming the success of the inaugural event in 2014, is the support of US-based augmented reality developers DAQRI, who participated last year, and now confirmed as this year’s Platinum Sponsor, with local company iTagged, confirmed as a Silver Sponsor.

The 2015 conference also boasts a new website – http://www.armarketingconference.com – featuring information about the conference, the speakers and panelists as well as links to the dedicated AR Marketing blog written by conference founder, Alex Gibson.  The new site also offers a streamlined method of booking tickets and includes a special launch ticket price of €150 (excl. VAT) increasing to €235 (excl. VAT) thereafter with special group rates and discounts also available.  Regular updates regarding additional speakers and panelists will also be posted to @armarketing_org on Twitter.

The European Augmented Reality Marketing Conference is organised by ARMarketing.org, which aims to build awareness of the commercial opportunities for Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and related technologies in the marketing community.
