Applications Now Open for Digital Youth Council

The Digital Youth Council has been working over the last two years to give a voice to young people in STEM in Ireland and provide them with a platform to influence the work being done by Government and industry in the STEM sector to ensure there will be opportunities for young people now and in the future.

Over the past two years there has been two elected councils, consisting of over twenty young people across Ireland. The list of alumni includes three Google Science Fair winners, five BT Young scientist winners, EU Digital Girl of the year for 2016, four Eir Junior Spider award winners and Time Magazine named three members in their 25 most influential teens worldwide list in 2014.

Applications are now open for the Digital Youth Council for September 2016 to September 2017.

The council will be raising the number of main council members from twelve to fifteen this year. The council will also only be accepting applications from students living in the Republic of Ireland.

“We are really excited to be opening applications again for the Digital Youth Council. Every year we are amazed by the huge amount of applications we get from talented young people across Ireland and have no doubt this year will be no different. This year’s council will have the exciting job of leading the council forward into its third year, and also leading some really exciting projects that we have in the pipeline. They will also have the opportunity to work with other councils across Ireland, which is something previous councils before them have never had the opportunity to do, but now that our idea as been replicated in both the U.K and the Netherlands, this is now something we can do.” said Harry McCann, Director, Digital Youth Council of Ireland.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

– Students must be in 2nd level education as of September 2016.
– Students must not be in a State examination year from September 2016/ 2017

How to apply:

– Students can apply by filling in the form here.
