Zendure Passport III Travel Adaptor Review

Zendure has just launched their Passport III travel adaptor on Kickstarter. The Passport III is a powerful 65W charger that can charge 6 devices at once and work in many places around the world. They have sent us one to review and we’ve been using it for the last few weeks to see how it performs.

Zendure Passport III Design

The Passport III takes on the form of common multi-plug travel adaptors but packs a lot of charging tech into the same space.

On the side of the device, there are 3 sliders that allow you to select which country’s system you want to use. Your options are UK, EU and US. There’s a safety system to allow you one select one at a time.

On the front of the device, there is a socket that can accept a standard plug from each of the different options listed above and on the bottom and side of the device, there are four USB-C ports along with one USB-A port. As the shift continues to more and more devices switching to using USB-C it is good to see this ratio of ports.

Overall the Passport III is a very compact and light device. At 168 grams it will be unnoticeable in your backpack or travel luggage and will replace several chargers you have been carrying previously.

What’s it like to use?

The Passport III can output 61 watts in total which means it will charge the vast majority of modern laptops as quickly as their power bricks can. The USB-C port on the side of the device is designed for use when charging laptops and the full 61 watts can be outputted through this but the Passport III can also distribute the available power through the other ports too so you can charge multiple devices at once.

I tested the Passport III charging a range of devices to see how it performed. It seamlessly switched between outputting full wattage via the laptop charging port to then sharing the output as I plugged in more devices to the other ports. I could measure 59 watts being sent to a laptop and when I plugged in other devices this dropped to just under 44 watts with the rest being shared across the other ports.

During my testing, even under full load, the device didn’t get very hot which can often be a trait of chargers such as this. There is a 10 amp thermal overload protection built into the device which cuts out if temperatures exceed 120 degrees and resets itself at 80. The 10 amp limit means you will be able to plug high demand items such as hair dryers into the socket on the front without issue.

Conclusion

The Zendure Passport III is a really compact device ideally suited to travelling that performs excellently. Not only is it suitable for travelling, due to its small size you could use it as an everyday charger for up to 6 of your devices in your home, office or when you are on the go but also have the travel adaptor functionality available when required.
