YapStone, a global provider of online and mobile payment solutions for global marketplaces and large vertical markets, today announced that Peter Rowan, a former senior executive from Twitter and PayPal, has joined as VP of International Operations and Global Customer Support.
Rowan brings a tremendous breadth of experience to YapStone, having worked extensively in payments for global markets for over 30 years. Formerly, Rowan was Global Director of Trust & Safety at Twitter, where he was responsible for leading teams in multiple offices around the globe, including Dublin, San Francisco, and Singapore.
In 2004, Rowan was hired by PayPal to scale its European fraud operations for high-growth. In this role for more than a decade, he successfully managed the company’s risk operations department, taking the business from the startup phase to a billion dollar enterprise. “Walking into YapStone feels very similar to my early days at both PayPal and Twitter,” Rowan says. “There’s excitement in the air and a culture of innovation at work.”
In the coming year, YapStone is forecasting 50 percent growth with significant opportunities and expansion in a number of international markets. The growing demand prompted the leadership to secure a 16,000 square-foot office in Drogheda, Ireland, a territory known for its cultivation of high-growth international startups.
With the help of Rowan, YapStone is now working closely with the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) to promote economic growth and will more than double the number of employees in its Ireland office in the coming year. Rowan notes, “If you take a look at the size of our new office, you’ll get an idea of what we intend to do here.”
“With his immense experience and excellence in scaling operations, we believe that Peter is the perfect leader to deliver our unique, end-to-end payment experience to our global marketplace partners,” said Tom Villante, CEO of YapStone. “As a leading FinTech company, we are also focused on promoting economic growth through job creation – in both Ireland and the United States; Peter’s expertise will be invaluable to YapStone and our partners.”
