Host in Ireland Founder and President and GDPR Awareness Coalition Founder and Co-Chair, Garry Connolly, to participate in Fireside chat Q and A session, as part of their support for this event as lead sponsor.
Host in Ireland, a strategic global initiative created to increase awareness of the benefits of hosting digital assets in Ireland, and winner of the Datacloud Europe 2016 award for Innovative Data Center Location, today announces that it will serve as the lead sponsor for the Irish Tech News IoT Awards 2017, taking place Tuesday, 30 May at DCU Alpha, a research-intensive innovation campus co-located with Dublin City University. Host in Ireland Founder and President and GDPR Awareness Coalition Founder and Co-Chair, Garry Connolly, will participate in the event’s keynote Q & A session with Irish Tech News Senior Editor and event co-organiser, Simon Cocking.
The Irish Tech News IoT Awards conference converges innovators and thought-leaders from throughout the IoT industry to share insight during a series of panels and presentations. Panel participants and presenters will discuss a wide range of topics including home automation, technological innovation and IoT academic research.
During the keynote session, Garry will discuss his work with Host in Ireland and the Irish GDPR Coalition. He will share with attendees the power of collaboration and coopetition among industry competitors as a means to generate awareness of Ireland as an optimum location to host digital assets, as well as the growing need to educate the Irish tech community on impending GDPR legislation.
“Host in Ireland is built upon a foundation of unconventional collaboration among industry competitors with the mutual goal of educating the general marketplace on Ireland’s available hosting benefits,” explains Mr. Connolly. “In addition, there remains a great deal of confusion surrounding upcoming GDPR legislation throughout Ireland and other European countries, leaving many organizations vulnerable to non-compliance. It is the mission of the GDPR Awareness Coalition to help companies and industry professionals better understand and prepare for the imminent regulations.”
Representing the most outstanding IoT companies in Ireland, Irish Tech News IoT Award winners will be selected from 35 finalists, including Fortune 500 companies such as Intel® and Dell. Beginning with 120 award submissions, a comprehensive final judging process will result in six award winners.

About Host in Ireland
Host in Ireland, winner of the Datacloud Europe 2016 award for Innovative Data Center Location, is an industry-led marketing initiative that provides timely and accurate information about Ireland’s digital asset hosting ecosystem at all times including demonstrating why Ireland is more cost-effective, efficient, reliable, secure and accessible than most other regions across the EU. There’s a reason companies like Microsoft, Zendesk, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Adobe and beyond have sought to host their solutions in as well as to/from Ireland. Many of these reasons are immediately realized due to access to affordable power, redundant network and bandwidth capacity along with a variety of data center providers that offer an array of services sustained by the “5 Ps”: Policy, People, Pedigree, Pipes, and Power. On top of that is a very attractive business management structure, implemented by Ireland, which is keenly interested to bring new businesses into the market. Ireland supports this initiative through attractive fiscal structures, access to a skilled workforce and full support of the U.S. Safe Harbor and Patriot Acts – ensuring data asset compliance for companies large and small.
