Where Dublin’s startups are found: Tech Ireland’s interactive map to go live

It’s all location, location, location with startups. Tech Ireland has mapped the locations of 1,200 startups and startup clusters around Dublin city and county.

The interactive map also links directly back to individual startup profiles on TechIreland’s live database. The aim of the map is to help startups, multinationals and the Irish government to better understand location challenges and opportunities, as well as other issues around density, funding and startup dynamics in and around Dublin.

The interactive map goes live on the Tech Ireland website on Tuesday, 4 December. You can find out more at techireland.org.

Some insights include:

Roughly 65% of the startups we’re tracking are based in Dublin city. That’s 730+ startups.
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Co Dublin and Fingal make up the remaining 35% – 380 + startups.
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown has the highest concentration of startups outside Dublin City at approx. 17% – 190+ startups.

Dublin 8 has the largest cluster on the south side, largely driven by startups in the NDRC, GEC and Digital Hub – 115+ startups
The largest cluster on the north side is around the IFSC and Dogpatch Labs – 55+ startups
Other prominent clusters exist around St. Stephen’s Green, Trinity College and Merrion Square with between 35 and 65 startups each.
Key clusters on the north side include Dublin City University (44+ startups) and Smithfield (20+ startups)

Sandyford has the largest cluster of startups outside Dublin City – 56+ startups
Medium size clusters -25 startups or so each – exist in City West and Tallaght
Smaller clusters -15 startups or so each – exist in Blanchardstown, Malahide and Swords
