VideoDoc is boosting the number of GP’s available online in order to meet anticipated demand during Ireland’s impending arctic blast.
The VideoDoc Irish online GP service is ramping up their number of GP’s online and will continue to provide full GP cover 7 days a week from 8 am to 10 pm to those who wish to and can avoid the weather while feeling under the weather.
With Met Eireann issuing a status red warning until 4 pm Friday, VideoDoc expects to see a similar uptake in people using the platform which occurred during Storm Ophelia, when there was a user increase of 100% availing of the service.
VideoDoc’s CEO Mary O’Brien said “Our experience of general practice is that about 70% of all GP visits can be treated online. Anyone who needs to see a Doctor but is unable to travel for any reason can log on from anywhere and be treated within minutes. If the forecast’s severe conditions make leaving the house not an option, then Irish people, particularly at-risk groups such as elderly people, can log on to VideoDoc and be treated without the need for an appointment and be seen immediately.”
