Colm Piercy and Paul Rellis
Digiweb Group, the largest indigenous Irish provider of enterprise telecommunications, managed cloud and residential broadband services, have announced that Paul Rellis, the former Chief Operations Officer for Microsoft Western Europe and former head of Microsoft Ireland has been appointed CEO to lead the company as it moves into its next phase of expansion and growth. Paul is also a former President of Ibec and of the American Chamber of Commerce.
Paul’s international expertise as well as his deep knowledge of the technology sector will bring invaluable insight and leadership to the Group as it embarks on its ambitious plan for growth and expansion.
On foot of continuing international expansion of his Chirisa Investments technology and real estate investment firm, Colm Piercy, Digiweb founder and CEO, takes up the Chairman role for Digiweb Group. This follows a successful 21 years at the helm of one of Ireland’s leading indigenous technology companies where under Colm’s leadership the firm has grown to over 120 people, has broadened its service offerings from broadband and hosting services to being one of the country’s most trusted data network, voice and managed services providers for businesses under the Viatel brand, and for residential customers under the Digiweb brand. Colm has also overseen a series of successful acquisitions bringing key talent and clients, as well as core IP and technology solutions, into the Group.
Commenting on today’s announcements, Colm Piercy, said: “Paul’s track record of business leadership and his insights, expertise and networks both here and across Europe mean he is the right person to lead Digiweb Group through its next phase of growth. Paul and I share a vision for what can be achieved by Viatel and Digiweb in the years ahead and I look forward to supporting him in my role as chair as he implements a new strategy for the Group.”
Commenting on his appointment as CEO of Digiweb Group, Paul Rellis said: “I am delighted to join Digiweb Group at this important time. There are significant opportunities for us to build on our track record of quality and customer service for both commercial businesses and residential customers under the Viatel and Digiweb brands. We see significant growth opportunities both in Ireland and internationally and I am excited to work with the team to further build this great independent Irish company. We are particularly well positioned and equipped to support our customers as they seek to embrace the opportunities that Digital Transformation presents.”
Concluding, Colm Piercy said, “I wish to also recognise the immense contribution made by Brian Kelly of Quay Ventures as our Chairman over his six-year term. His commitment to Viatel and Digiweb and his guidance and support has been invaluable. I look forward to continuing to work with him and thank him for his continued commitment to our ventures and to the Digiweb Group Board.”
