How many years has it been going?

This is the inaugural symposium hosted by the UCD Sustainable Energy Community supported by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland

What was the inspiration to start it?

A key objective of the UCD Sustainable Energy Community (https://sec.ucd.ie/about-us/) is the dissemination of sustainable energy practices and research within the community. In line with this, the UCD Sustainable SmartCities & Communities Symposium provides a forum for promotion and discussion of the relevant sustainability issues facing cities and communities such as UCD including all relevant stakeholders such as the general public, local government, industry and academia.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

In addition to a number of exciting keynotes mentioned below, three more interactive workshops are planned on the topics of “Smart Building Technologies”, “Sustainable Energy Communities in Ireland: Present, Impact and Future” and “IoT, AI and Integrated Services for Smart Cities and Communities”

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

The opportunity to be in the same room as the key policy shapers from the EU, national and local government, industry and academia. Additionally you can listen to and help shape a future vision for sustainable cities and communities in Ireland.
