Twitter’s latest push to monetise has led to the rollout of a new “Twitter Ads” button which prominently appears on user profile pages on both the iOS and Android client applications. The new button is right next to the “Edit Profile” button, account switcher and settings icon.
Users will now be able to manage their Twitter ad campaigns on the go. Oddly enough, the button only lets you manage a current ad campaign. It does not allow you to start a new ad campaign or to set one up for the first time so unless you are actually running an ad campaign at the moment then it is pretty much useless. In case there is any confusion, it is the new graph icon button in the screenshot below.
Facebook launched a dedicated Ads Manager App last year which allowed users to create ad campaigns as well as tracking their progress online. Twitter may not be in the position to created their own app at the moment however it appears to be pointing towards ad creation for users as they look for new ways to generate revenue.
Twitter has not officially announced the new Ads feature as of yet and it is believed that they are beta testing it at the moment so don’t worry if you don’t see it appearing on your profile just yet. The Twitter Ads button has also been seen appearing in the list that appears when you tap the settings option. It is possible Twitter is testing different approaches and formats before officially announcing Twitter Ads on mobile.
Having a "Twitter Ads" button above Lists and Drafts not only seems desperate but disregards the user experience. pic.twitter.com/sDTrakPftc
