Turn your “Dumb” TV into a “Smart” TV

One of the coolest gadgets I’ve seen coming out of this week so far is this little Dongle from a company called “Always Innovating”

With “Smart” TV’s becoming all the rage, some of us with slightly older TV sets may be looking on with a little jealousy. Well fear not. Connect this Dongle up to a spare HDMI port on your TV and give it some power via USB and it will bring a full Android experience to your set. The Dongle is basically a shrunk down smartphone that uses your TV as it’s display.

The Specs are as follows:

  • Arm Cortex A9 processor (1 to 1.8GHz depending on config.)
  • 256MB to 1GB RAM
  • Micro SD for storage
  • Wifi
  • Bluetooth
  • NFC
  • Bundled remote with accelerometer
  • Capable of streaming 1080p video from sources such as Netflix

For display it is running Gingerbread, but will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich. Details of exact shipping dates are still a bit light, but Always Innovating are indicating a Q2 2012 release with a RRP starting at just $79.

If they can deliver it at that price they may be on to a winner. Check out the video and let us know what you think below.
