Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m on a mission to spread entrepreneurship – that’s the spirit, the skill and the mindset that says ‘I’m not going to accept the status quo’. I have a number of roles including entrepreneur mentor in residence for Oxford Inspires, the annual entrepreneur’s summit at Oxford University and I’m a writer, keynote speaker and Inc. Magazine Columnist.
What is your background?
My background comes from working in global management consultancy and then a radical change of direction into startup mentoring, angel investing and writing and speaking about innovation and entrepreneurship.
Is it a logical progression to what you do now?
It’s certainly more zigzag than linear! I think that’s at the core of what it means to be an entrepreneur – always searching for change, embracing it, anticipating it and exploiting it as an opportunity.

Since we last featured you, what are you working on now? What are your plans for 2017?
I’ve just returned home from a book tour for my recent book, The Leader’s Mindset: How To Win In The Age of Disruption. It always confirms to me why travelling and being open to chance encounters is a great way to learn. Now that I’m back there’s some exciting projects on the radar including a new book deal, mentoring at Oxford University’s annual entrepreneur’s summit and of course Totem Summit in Whistler on March 26-28!

What will you be talking about at Totem?
My talk will be a deep dive into the hearts and minds of risk takers, visionaries and pioneers who pursue moonshots, the ideas that rewrite how business is done.
How was 2016, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?
2016 was a pivotal year in that I had my first book published and got to speak at a lot of companies both big and small. The day to day operational side of running a business can always be faster and better.
Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?
There’s so many great ones out there. 9others.com, Firstroundreview, GetAbstract and Second Home are my favourite go-to places right now.
