What is Tinggly?
Tinggly is a one-stop gift solution for travellers, offering hundreds of unique experiences in more than 80 countries around the globe. Tinggly offers a worldwide selection of experiences in one simple gift. Experiences range from simple spa relaxation to the more extreme, such as rafting in Brazil jungles! Once the gift giver makes a purchase from a Tinggly Gift Collection, the gift receiver can then select any experience from a whole range.
Tinggly gift certificates are valid for two years, so the gift receiver has plenty of time to plan their life-changing travel experience.
How is it different / why will it do well?
Tinggly takes a totally new look at experience gifts. Typically, experience gifts are available locally – from local suppliers, for local people. We are redefining experience gift categories by offering gifts all over the world. It feels as though the world is shrinking as people are travelling more and more – places are so accessible these days and we want to show what this amazing world has to offer through our unique and memorable experiences.
Where are you based? (How is the broadband?)
Tinggly is a global company. We have people working in various corners of the world – from the UK to America, a scattered team of passionate people. Our experience and web development teams are Lithuania based. It was recently announced that Lithuania has the fastest public wifi in the world! We certainly make the most of this! We also have various people are out and about travelling the world in the name of Tinggly, testing out experiences – pretty cool job hey!?
When was the company launched?
The idea of Tinggly was floating about for a few years. In early 2014 we decided it was time to make a go of it! Web and product development started in the late spring of 2014 and thanks to their passionate we have managed to create the most inspiring global gift solution currently available. We launched at the end of November 2014 so things are still very fresh!
What have been your biggest wins to date?
It’s only been a month or so since Tinggly went live. The most exciting part is learning something new about our customers. We are receiving feedback everyday and we would like to thank all our fans who provide feedback. All comments are priceless – it provides the core of our business development.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
Tinggly is a global company providing a global gift solution for travellers. Tinggly is the ideal gift for people who enjoy travel – be that just once or twice a year or a seasoned traveller. Tinggly is an intangible gift – we believe that memories are the best gift for those with an appreciation of travel.
Tell us about your team? (which roles did you fill first, which later on? Why?)
Experience hunters have been so important to us from the get-go – they are hugely responsible for getting Tinggly to where it is now. Although it is a fun and exciting job, it is actually pretty demanding too! You meet so many people and are continually learning.
Web development is another very important task. We have to ensure that the website runs smoothly and that people enjoy the very best user experience possible.
What are your long term plans for your product / company?
We want to create the best gift solution for travellers. Travelling is all about exploring new places and experiencing local gems that otherwise would be difficult to find. We position Tinggly as a source of inspiration. We have already launched Tinggly in the UK, but now we want to increase our activity in other regions too such as the USA and Asia. We want to grow a community of like-minded people who actively support non-physical consumption of goods – contributing to the general good of society.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
My smartphone is the best gadget I use daily. From reading news, communicating with people and doing business related tasks. Then it’s my MacBook – the best tool for getting a job done well. Finally, it’s a digital camera which is an irreplaceable gadget when travelling to capture those once in a lifetime moments.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
To me it’s not all about gadgets, it’s about the people using them.
