Interview with Paulius Vitkus, COO of Bizrecommends

Describe the company – the elevator pitch…

B2B social network which helps companies find new partners and increase sales. Network is based on recommendations (only companies can recommend, not humans).

How are you different?

We are dedicated for B2B markets and providing more rational and credible companie‘s rating system. The main difference from other ratings is that in „BizRecommends“ only companies can recommend other companies. That‘s important, because companies recommend more responsibly as they know that recommendation can impact their reputation.

Companies are well aware that business partners or suppliers make crucial contribution to business success in most cases. On the other hand, companies recommend more responsibly as they know that recommendation can impact their reputation.

Why will the company / product do well?

Companies are well aware that business partners or suppliers make crucial contribution to business success in most cases. That‘s why startups like „TrustPilot“ or „Yelp“ are growing. We are in the growing market and have solved uncredible rating system problem. According to MIT Sloan Management Review research, consumers are systematically biased and easily manipulated.

Where are you based, how is the broadband?

We‘re based in capital of Lithuania, Vilnius and planning to move in London. Lithuania is the leader in high speed fiber broadband, so no problem with that J Thanks to TEO.

When was the company launched?

„BizRecommends“ was founded in October 2013 by Kestutis Gecas. The product was launched in April 2014.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

„BizRecommends“ started in Lithuania more than a year ago and today has connected approximately 1000 companies. That‘s  5% of all SMB in Lithuania.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Our target customers are small and medium business (SMB) and service-oriented companies. Obviously, recommendations are more imporant to service providers, not manufacturers. You can‘t touch service, therefore evaluate it. The only solution – to make decision, based on other people opinion.

Tell us about your team?

Kestutis Gecas (CEO) is the founder of BizRecommends and Paulius Vitkus (COO) joined later. Kestutis has more than 14 years experience in B2B communication and have created one of the biggest public relations company in Lithuania. He is responsible for business strategy and business side.

Paulius has more than 6 years experience in development of various internet projects. He is responsible for project management, execution and technical things, including back-end programming.

What are your long term plans for your product / company?

We are launching into UK market right now, a further step towards our long term plans. Over the next 5 years, we aim to become the biggest B2B online rating system in the world, which will replace yellow pages and online directories market, which are not creating much value for users.
