1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

Currently, Amela is working as a test automation engineer and Darko is a full stack web developer at Comtrade Digital Services. We are both certified Scrum masters and true agile believers. During the years we have worked on several international projects and we made few presentations from our experience.

How was the last 12 months, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?

Last year was quite busy and memorable for both of us. We started a local meetup group ShareIT Sarajevo together with our colleagues, 5 of us. Since the group startup, amazing things happened. First to tell is our team was the winning team of the TeamSTAR competition in 2016. That inspired us to start presenting various topics on our meetups and later on, we were invited to present these topics at several international conferences. Amela was a speaker at Bosnia Agile Day 2016, UKSTAR Software Testing Conference and Online Testing Conference. And together, we were speakers at Agile Portugal 2017.
We’re glad to say that the group now has a few hundred members and the community is still growing every day. By meeting great people and sharing great stories, ideas, and experiences we keep growing with our group.

What are your plans for the future?

So far the future is looking great. We were invited as speakers at 2 more conferences: Codemotion Berlin 2017 and Tricentis Accelerate 2017 in Vienna, and also will be speakers at one local meetup. We are planning to continue working hard as so far to learn more, obtain certificates in the technical and agile area. We certainly hope to make ShareIT Sarajevo meetups even more interesting and educational, based on our experiences so far.

What will you be talking about at this event?

In our presentation “Think globally, act locally – Build stronger distributed agile teams”, we will explore some of the drawbacks as well as benefits of working in a distributed agile team and some of our best tips and tricks that helped us to increase team productivity. We will share some of the real case examples from our experience in being part of distributed agile teams on several international projects over the years.
Key takeaway points of our presentation:
• Challenges that can arise in distributed agile teams
• Some of the strategies to address those challenges
• How to turn work in a distributed team in your favor?

What inspired you to attend it?

Many of our colleagues attended Quest for Quality 2016, which was the first conference that Comtrade organized. They said it was a very successful 2-day event, with interesting QA and DevOps topics covered. They were full of impressions and really enjoyed it. We believe it is a great opportunity to hear about new hot topics in software testing world, meet other professionals and to get a different point of view. Being invited as a speaker on such an inspiring event was really challenging for us, so we are proud that we have accomplished that goal.

Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?

We gain inspiration and find information from many sources, it is hard to name them all.
We try to keep up and attend local meetups as much as possible.
We are both very active on social networks. A lot of information about webinars, workshops, trainings and conferences we have found on a social media – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and TED Talks as well as IT news web portals. Some of the pages that we follow:
Also, we try to attend different IT conferences whenever we get a chance to.

How can people find out more about what you are working on?

The best way is to follow us on our social networks: Twitter (Amela, Darko), LinkedIn (Amela, Darko), as well as on ShareIT Sarajevo blog.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Just to say, we are looking forward to the Quest for a quality conference and it is an honor and privilege to be a speaker at this event. If you are interested in software quality, don’t hesitate to attend this year’s Quest for Quality in Dublin! We hope you’ll find a lot of useful tips and tricks to learn from.
