The Gig Economy: Coming to a Screen Near You

Moonlighting to Appear on Tim Draper Reality Series “Meet the Drapers”

Moonlighting, a leading freelance platform, will appear on a new TV reality series “Meet the Drapers” to present their business plan and invite viewers to invest directly in the company. The show features renowned venture capitalist and blockchain advocate, Tim Draper, along with his family as they learn about Moonlighting’s mission to help millions build their dream business and its plan to bring freelancing mainstream worldwide. The show is set to air on Sony Entertainment Television and YouTube this fall.

Established in 2014, Moonlighting is the first mobile, on-demand solution empowering people to earn extra money and hire talented professionals quickly. Moonlighting’s virtual marketplace currently supports more than 670,000 freelancers and small businesses in the United States and Canada.

While Moonlighting has already raised $6.3M from strategic investors, the appearance on “Meet the Drapers” provides the unique opportunity for viewers to step into the shoes of a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and invest in one of the most disruptive hiring platforms in the world. The reality series, in partnership with leading crowdfund platform Republic.co, allows viewers to become investors — right from their couch, while watching the show.

The Moonlighting episode will air in October 2018 but the crowdfunding campaign is currently underway. The proceeds will be used to fuel Moonlighting’s international expansion and blockchain integration with investment amounts ranging from $100- $10,000. Investors will also receive additional perks such as early access to new features and free premium membership subscriptions.

“Our goal with Moonlighting has always been to get our users involved and engaged in the company,” added Moonlighting Founder and CEO, Jeff Tennery. “We want our users to own a piece of the very company they are helping build.”
