The first national day of design in Ireland in support of mental health Mind Over Matter took place yesterday

Mind Over Matter took place across Ireland yesterday when The Institute of Designers Ireland hosted the first national day of design in Ireland to highlight the importance of looking after your mental health in the creative community. 1 in 10 people are affected by depression in Ireland and AWARE offers support and information services nationwide for those impacted by depression, bipolar disorder and other mood related disorders

Over 96 companies and designers took part. A fantastic day of reaching out, creating opportunity, sharing skills and experience whilst raising money for a great cause.

Businesses and entrepreneurs around Ireland booked a one hour consultation for €60 with product/graphic/digital designers and brand strategists. The events took place in Belfast, Galway, Tullamore, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Dundalk and Dublin. All proceeds raised from the consultations are going directly to Aware, helping to fund the charity’s free nationwide support, education and information services.

Kim Mackenzie-Doyle, President, IDI commented: “I have been afforded the opportunity through IDI to concentrate on a subject that has touched so many of us. Together, we hope to change the conversation around mental health in the design community and raise vital funds for Aware.”
