By @SimonCocking review of The Crypto Intro: Your Guide To Mastering Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Cryptoassets, Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Investing by Nathan Rose. Available from Amazon here.
From Silicon Valley, to Wall Street, to legions of volunteer computer coders, to the early adopters who are using crypto every day – many very smart people believe that crypto could be the “next Internet” in terms of its scale and impact on the world.
Cryptocurrency raises challenging questions it raises about money and the role of banks and governments which were formerly taken for granted.
The promise of crypto is incredible – to disrupt the antiquated financial services industry and the fees they charge, by providing instant, near-free transactions to anyone with an Internet connection.
The Crypto Intro is a high-quality practical guide, written with the beginner in mind, with all the information a newcomer needs to quickly get to grips with crypto and the exact steps to get started.
Whatever you call it, “crypto” is something that anyone with an interest in tech trends or their financial future needs to understand – we are entering the age of cryptocurrency investing.
First of all, we liked this book. We have reviewed several crypto guides recently, but we feel this one goes into the most depth, with detailed explanations of all the key things you need to get started. We also learned a few new things too, and it is written well, in a good conversational and explanatory manner. It probably doesn’t hurt that the author also has a background in digital marketing too, but in all these things, communication is key, if you can’t explain something clearly and concisely then it doesn’t matter how well you know your subject matter.
The chapters on forks and the levels of electricity used also illustrate the fact that Rose’s approach is to be comprehensive, and aim to answer ‘everything you wanted to know about crypto but were embarrassed to ask’ … Proof of work and proof of stake are important questions, and ones that some major coins are still trying to work out the best way to proceed. Also the explanation of mining, drilling down into the level of what mining machines actually do, and therefore why it has already become big business, were also informative and interesting to read.
We enjoyed reading this book, found it useful and informative, and would recommend it to anyone looking to get started in this new and interesting world of cryptocurrencies.
