The Agile-Lean Ireland 2019 conference takes place in Croke Park this April

The Agile-Lean Conference returns this April and we spoke to co-organiser David Denham to find out what people can expect from this year’s event.

When and where is it on?

25th & 26th April 2019 at Croke Park, Dublin

How many years has it been going/ have the other events been running?

This is our 3rd year running the Agile-Lean Ireland conference. We’ve been amazed by the interest and support of our 2017 and 2018 events, which grew from 150 delegates to 525 delegates between the 2 years. The standard of speakers was extremely high last year and included keynotes from the brilliant Henrik Kniberg and Jeff Gothelf. We’ve been running meetups as a community for almost 4 years now, and we’re really excited about making our 2019 event even better. ALI is an absolutely thriving and diverse community these days, and we’re immensely proud of the journey we’ve been on with it.

What was the inspiration to start it?

We are simply a group of friends who started this because we are passionate about Lean and Agile, and wanted to contribute to creating a vibrant Agile-Lean community in Ireland. It started as a crazy experiment, off the back of a talk myself and my friend Rob gave at the Agile Tour at the time – the Agile community in Dublin was very small at the time. We came up with a “definition of awesome” – which was simply that if anyone showed up for that meetup, it would be a success! With another friend’s borrowed projector, and driving a couple of hours to pick up a screen, we were ready to go! It just took off from there, and thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the support of the community, we now have almost 2,000 members in ALI.

What exciting things can people look forward to this year?

Our 2019 event is going to be amazing – we can’t say how excited we are to have the cream of the crop of international and Irish speakers with us. For example, we have Barry O’Reilly, Mary Poppendieck, Dan North, Geoff Watts, and John Cutler as our main speakers! We don’t believe there is a better lineup at any other conference in the world in 2019. Most importantly, this is a chance to meet another like-minded people and share knowledge and experiences, and have some fun! We will have dedicated tracks on Agile Testing, Development, Coaching, Agile HR, Kanban, Teams, Leadership and more!

What opportunities are on offer for people/startups/investors/companies attending?

Quite simply, Croke Park will be the focal point of the Agile world for ALI2019 – so for anyone attending, its a great chance to network with the best local and international agilists – the opportunities are endless.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Take your team – this is a brilliant opportunity to learn from the masters of Lean and Agile. Our event is by the community for the community, and your 2-day learnings from the best in the business will come at a fraction of the cost of other events around Europe. We’ll have a variety of regular talks, workshops, lightning talks and networking sessions, so it’s a great opportunity to learn lots of different topics in different and hands-on ways.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

Tickets are on sale through our website – www.agileleanireland.org. These tickets are selling fast, so we encourage everyone to get your tickets now.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

We believe Agile-Lean Ireland 2019 is going to be something special, and we’d love to see you there on the day.
