The 6th Transform Africa Summit is back and will be held in hybrid format from the 8th to the 10th of September 2021 under the theme “Integrating Africa”.

What this Summit holds for participants

Transform Africa 2021 will be held as a hybrid version, as it will account for markets opening up since the COVID-19 pandemic, while others have not. It will attract 10,000 delegates from over 100 countries, which will include heads of state, Government Ministers, captains of industry, technical professionals, entrepreneurs, and academics.

The main themes and streams of this event will be as follows, Smart Cities, which plans to improve the lives of millions of urban dwellers in Africa. Data Governance, good governance ensures data is usable, accessible, and protected.

Digital Health, technology, and innovative solutions have the power to improve the resilience of global health systems. Fintech, Africa can improve financial inclusion through digital financial services.

Start-ups & Innovation Ecosystems, start-ups drive innovation and create jobs, this will be central to the growth of Africa’s economies. Broadband, The Smart Broadband 2025, Strategy championed by Senegal is a transformative broadband strategy towards accelerating sustainable broadband penetration in Africa by the end of 2025.

Digital ID can reduce the digital divide, allow over 500 million excluded people in Africa to get access to financial tools economic inclusion, and improve cross-border trade. Digital Economy, advancing African countries through digital computing tech can build stronger economies.

Digital Skills, allowing a platform for digital skills to prepare workforces for jobs of the future. Agritech, tech innovation will enhance agricultural productivity, ensure food security and improve the livelihoods of Africa’s farming communities.

This event is Smart Africa’s flagship event and for many years, it has been what Smart Africa is known for. The last summit was in the 2019 edition of the Transform Africa Summit which was run in Kigali Rwanda.

That summit saw 5660 delegates that registered to attend the summit from 107 different countries attesting to the fact that TAS is now international. Three heads of state commended this event, H.E. President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, and H.E. President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta of Mali.

Sophia, the first humanoid robot was a key highlight of the summit and most delegates were excited by the prospect. The summit had over 51 open partner sessions with sponsored dinners, closed-door sessions, B2B meetings, etc.

The event also had an area exclusively dedicated to young people called “The Future” where 12 youth-centric sessions were held. The summit attracted over 37 sponsors who made this summit a success.
