This hub is designed to make it much easier for councils, communities, and businesses to find information and inspiration to help them practically approach the climate and biodiversity crisis.

How can CAT aids efforts of being climate-conscious

As CAT believes, local action from councils, community organisations, and businesses is central to tackling the climate crisis. Combining hundreds of free resources from a wide variety of organisations to share expertise and tools.

Anthony Hurford, project manager at CAT gives us an overview of the Zero Carbon Britain Hub and Innovation Lab. In February 2020, the new Zero Carbon team gathered to begin planning, this effort was squashed with the pandemic and the team would not be able to meet.

Now in May 2021, the team has developed a three-year strategy for working with councils and community groups and has trained over 500 people. CAT has been researching and sharing ways of getting to net-zero greenhouse gases for over a decade, this project has a specific focus on helping councils and community groups.

The team began with finding out what kind of support councils etc need to help turn the climate crisis around into zero-carbon action plans.

The resources vary across different categories like the resource hub, offering training and innovation, the opportunity to co-create innovative solutions, and offer a hub of knowledge for people.

There is also an interactive webinar coming up on July 8th at 12 pm, in which they will partner with Ashden to host the seventh iteration of their one-hour interactive Zero Carbon Britain-themed webinars, you can register for it here.

They began their initial Zero Carbon Britain research 15 years ago when greenhouse gas danger was only becoming an internationally recognised issue, inspired by the ‘Alternative Energy Strategy for the UK’. published by CAT in 1977.
