Blackstone LaunchPad and Techstar’s Network fellowship awarded to prestigious young entrepreneur

SMART Edu Club, an education start-up founded by Tyndall PhD researcher Marinara Marcato, has been awarded a prestigious launchpad fellowship grant from future founders to lead a new  SMART Edu Camp series of online summer camps.

The grant will expand the company’s educational content into brand-new hands-on learning activities ranging from crafts to coding.

Smart Edu Club launched with the SMART Edu Challenge, a free online activity programme for kids who love science. Over 1,300 families worldwide have subscribed to date.

Building on this popularity and further extending their educational outreach, Smart Edu Camp is a series of one-week online summer camps incorporating arts, science, coding, and robotics.

The camps are affordably priced at €50 per week with discounts for family groups and run from 13 July to 31 July.

Each five-day camp begins the day with a live one-hour live interactive session led by an instructor who will introduce the theme for the day with inspiration, materials, and worksheets needed to complete an assigned mission.

Mission activities require minimum resources and no previous knowledge and are designed to keep kids engaged and on track for a minimum of two hours.

Development of the SMART Edu Camp is supported in part by the “Blackstone  launchpad and Techstars” network

LaunchPad Fellowship awarded to Tyndall researcher to develop virtual online summer camps

SMART Edu Club founder Marinara Marcato has been selected as one of 50 participants in the LaunchPad Summer Startup Fellowship, during which student entrepreneurs from the U.S. and Ireland have the opportunity to validate their strategies and advance their businesses.

Amy Smith, Senior Vice President, Product for Techstars commented: “You won’t find more passionate innovators than the student founders in the LaunchPad Fellowship and we’re happy to be helping provide an experience this summer necessary for them to validate and continue pursuing their ideas.”

Peter Finnegan, Director of the Blackstone LaunchPad at UCC added, “The Techstars Summer Fellowship Programme presents entrepreneurs like Marinara with a unique opportunity to develop new skills, build new insights, and make new connections in the U.S., all of which will add significant value as she seeks to expand her business offering.”

Limited places are still available for all three camps at https://smarteduclub.com/camp.
