In a world where business success is defined by how enterprises leverage data and how data in turn impacts their purpose and growth, infrastructure is vital.
The last three decades have shown us that the rapid growth from dedicated infrastructure (Web 1.0) to cloud infrastructure (Web 2.0) and now to an edge infrastructure (Web 3.0) is inevitable with the advance of emerging technologies that sequence this infrastructure – such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, 5G/6G or fifth/sixth generation of cellular communications, and edge data centers.
Digitized Life and Work
We see our world dealing with an astronomical amount of data and the need to process them in a faster, stronger, and secure manner has become paramount with recent events like the pandemic, natural and human-made disasters, and regional conflicts that underscore the importance of data integrity. These global events align with the 2022 Gartner report and its prediction that by 2025 “more than 50% of enterprise-managed data will be created and processed outside the data center or cloud”. This is also not surprising if we consider, for example, the rise of 3 billion gamers as people shifted into work-from-home arrangements during the pandemic – leading to increased digital activities such as zoom meetings, online shopping and NFT metaverse gaming.
Optimal Physics of Compute
Edge computing is making possible solutions that address 4 key challenges in infrastructure according to the 2019 SeaGate report:
Unlike centralized data analysis, distributed/decentralized analysis done locally and closer to the source (edge computing) is more aligned with natural and physics rules that state that accomplishing things as quickly, cheaply, and efficiently as possible is optimal.
In cases where time is of the essence, such as with autonomous vehicles’ fast and immediate responses when the safety of passengers and pedestrians are at risk, low latency is not only important but essential.
StrongNode.io is one of the new and innovative technology companies focused on advancing modern edge computing technology. By simply utilizing the resources of idle devices commonly found in our homes and turning them into nodes, we can make the advantages of edge computing on a global scale even more apparent and significant.
StrongNode is developing software that can harvest not only underutilized CPU/GPU from desktops/laptops but also unused network bandwidth and spare data storage from tablets, mobile phones, smart TV, and other digital devices.
It will, nevertheless, be a difficult task. To build a battle-tested mesh architecture that can handle all data processing demands while also ensuring data security and privacy, it will need a large network of nodes.
Securely Unleashing Compute Power
At the heart of centralization is the need for control with the intent to protect and secure assets. However, the time and distance that it takes to move data from the source to the core then back to the source increase the risks of security breaches and surface attacks. A decentralized edge network reduces the chance of this threat by reducing the time and distance needed to process data. StrongNode takes this even further by tapping into distributed networks best exemplified by blockchain technology.
With security at the core of how things are done, blockchain makes it virtually impossible to tamper with the data or hack the system. StrongNode unifies edge computing and blockchain technology to address enterprise data management challenges and goals. Now it is possible to unleash speed and power while safeguarding data and privacy by leveraging the best of these two worlds.
Computing for a Purpose: Community Benefits
The StrongNode ecosystem is designed to knit a strong fabric of a trifecta of 1) node seeders or providers, 2) node enterprises or clients, and 3) node innovators, which is a hybrid of both roles. Node innovators, best represented by the gaming community with both compute-intensive requirements and available latent compute resources, are strategic and symbiotic participants in this ecosystem.
The sense of community is the strongest fiber holding together any ecosystem. It is no different in this node network of connected devices and users. StrongNode is part of the Tkyo Labs group that includes other innovative projects centered in building and working with real-world communities such as the Original Gamer Life, Happiest Pet, HeyandHi, and Starts to Heal, to name a few, which are wholly-owned or partly-owned by Tkyo Labs, and will all be powered by the StrongNode edge technology and its diverse and integrated suite of products and services to help establish the depth and breadth of the network.
StrongNode applies the same open source and community approach in designing solutions for the enterprise. StrongNode is committed to drawing from its core purpose of working with the community to build the community for the service of the community.
StrongNode is developing “StrongNode ID” product with an NFT element for users’ single sign on/login that will ensure their privacy and seamless access to the StrongNode Edge network. The StrongNode team is also working on the release of the dVPN (decentralized Virtual Private Network) product which allows the edge network individual users to become VPN exit points through an additional network layer. This will allow a fast, affordable, and secure VPN solution where anyone can connect easily and smoothly to the Edge network.
As StrongNode immerses in the worlds of these various communities together with the host of other projects under Tkyo Labs, it will also be able to harness and direct all the power and promise of edge computing and blockchain technology into solving real-world enterprise challenges achieving outsized goals.
