StockBot, the stock-taking robot to enter the Retail Intelligence era, at NRF Retail’s Big Show

Barcelona (Spain), January 4th. StockBot robot automates stocktaking and optimizes inventory management in retail stores, solving a challenge that is still pending in the sector. The robot combines RAIN RFID, vision, and autonomous navigation, and after each inventory, StockBot crafts a 3D map with the location of the products in space and delivers pictures of their distribution.

StockBot will be at NRF Retail’s Big Show in Impinj booth 3465. Impinj is a leading provider and pioneer of RAIN RFID solutions. NRF Retail’s Big Show will take place at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, from 13th to 15th January 2019.

“Inventory management is a challenge that retailers are facing daily. The combination of Impinj and PAL Robotics technologies in StockBot provides key benefits to retailers. By incorporating the Impinj Speedway RAIN RFID reader in StockBot, retailers can quickly and easily identify and locate store inventory without taking their staff away from shopper assistance.” said Fabrice Gourlay, vice president sales EMEA at Impinj.

Robotics and data analysis, the retail trends in 2019

“Having inventory under an exhaustive control, as StockBot enables, is the key to jump into the Retail Intelligence era, which puts the customer at the center of the shopping experience”, states Sergio Ramos, StockBot’s Product Manager. Besides providing the means for fast restocking or misplacements detection, the continuous information generated by StockBot opens the door to analyze the stock flow and make data-driven decisions of higher value.

For the first time, retailers can exhaustively understand their customers’ behavior and then deliver a personalized offer accordingly, or explore new ways to innovate in the customer experience. StockBot also gives the chance to closely follow the products’ flow, detect flaws, improve processes, and ensure coherence between offline and online sales points.

What’s behind StockBot’s technology?

StockBot is integrated into the retailer’s inventory system to quickly deliver the resulting data. The robot’s cutting-edge mapping and navigation are key for its autonomous behavior. StockBot only requires one first set-up to start working without any supervision nor environment modification needed. Even if the store distribution is changed, the robot will understand it and find the new path to fully cover the space. StockBot is developed by PAL Robotics, a worldwide leader in service robotics with over 15 years of experience in the field.
