SSE Airtricity and Verde LED light the way to energy savings in new partnership

SSE Airtricity has announced a new exclusive partnership with Verde LED to provide LED lighting upgrades and energy-efficiency improvements to businesses across Ireland.

Verde LED, founded in 2010, specialises in lighting design for new and existing facilities, with a dedicated research and development (R&D) department to ensure product quality and competitiveness. The company has a wealth of expertise and experience in project management, delivering turnkey solutions for large-scale projects alongside auditing, designing, supplying and installing products globally from their headquarters in Cork.

SSE Airtricity has a well-established relationship with Verde LED, and has been working with the company on lighting upgrade projects commercial customers since 2015. This strategic partnership has also resulted in Verde LED being chosen as the preferred partner in the delivery of SEAI-supported, community-based, retrofit lighting schemes.

Over the past three years, SSE Airtricity has invested €1 million in over 100 lighting upgrade projects carried out by Verde LED. These projects have resulted in energy savings of 10 gigawatt hours (GWh), or enough to power around 2,300 Irish homes. The annual savings from these projects have totalled over €1.5 million*1. Over the next 12 months, SSE Airtricity has agreed to fund 4GWh of delivered energy with Verde LED, saving enough energy to power nearly 1,000 Irish homes.*2

Stephen Gallagher, Director of Business Energy at SSE Airtricity, said:

“We’re delighted to be announcing Verde LED as our lighting partner of choice. In addition to supplying our customers with 100% green energy, we’re always striving to enhance our energy services offering, and this new partnership underlines that commitment. We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with Verde LED to date, and look forward to further strengthening it through this strategic partnership. We’re very excited about utilising their expertise and the quality of their products to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint and save on their energy costs.”

John Keohane, CEO Verde LED, said:

“We are delighted to have partnered with SSE to become their sole lighting partner and look forward to working together helping customers become more energy efficient and reduce their energy costs.”
