SIRO has announced that services powered by its Gigabit broadband network will be available to the first 185 homeowners in Phase 1 of Park Developments’ Clay Farm development in Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

Reflecting demand in new housing developments for very high-quality broadband services and also the growth in construction projects SIRO is working with developers to pre-install services in new residential developments.

The wholesale broadband operator has moved to cater for demand in underserved Dublin suburbs also, with Swords, Balbriggan, Finglas and Tyrellstown forming part of its rollout in the county, along with Bray on the Wicklow border. The new ten towns to become part of SIRO’s 100% fibre-optic network are Balbriggan, Killarney, Clonmel, Mallow, Shannon, Swords, Ongar, Tyrellstown, Finglas and Clane.

As a result, SIRO is already live in 30 towns across the country, with 10 operators offering connections to over 175,000 homes and businesses, along with 25,000 premises connected to the network. SIRO plans to pass an additional 50,000 premises before the end of the year, bringing its network size to 225,000 homes and businesses.

Commenting on the announcement Sean Atkinson, SIRO CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have made our 1 Gigabit connectivity available to Clay Farm residents as part of our Dublin roll out. Developments like Clay Farm, with its high proportion of young families, demand high capacity broadband for home working, entertainment and education services, so it makes sense to pre-install SIRO at the construction phase as the services are ready when the new residents move in”.

“Our 10 new towns announced today is a significant addition to the availability of 100% Gigabit connectivity in Ireland and is improving competition in these towns as retailers offer services powered by SIRO. The demand for Fibre-to-the-Home services, which is seen as the gold standard for broadband, is clearly illustrated in the latest Comreg statistics, with connections jumping to over 50,000 premises. With 25,000 homes and businesses connected to the SIRO network, we are delivering the best broadband experience in Ireland with our 100% fibre-optic network.”

SIRO is offered on an open-access basis to all telecoms retailers in Ireland. SIRO has formed partnerships with 10 operators – Vodafone, Digiweb, Sky, BT, Carnsore Broadband, Rocket Broadband, Kerry Broadband, eNet, Airwire and WestNet.
