Sheroes. A blend of “She” and “Heroes”.
Just like Hope.
A word that conjures up our internal strength, perseverance, and resilience.
During uncertain times like these, we seek out sources of optimism. We embrace things that bring us hope — people, ideas, and actions that drive us forward.
The world will one day move beyond this pandemic. But this is not the time that we abandon our goals and our ambitions for a more equal world. Instead of falling back to our old habits, we must start fresh — with new perspectives. A world with new hope and new architects — ones that resemble our society at large.
True diversity.
We must act with urgency and challenge the old normal. And we must address and solve for — the structural and systemic biases — that have stopped us from moving forward.
We need to nurture and propagate fresh ideas around the world. We need to accelerate growth for diverse founders addressing real problems in our society. We need to lift up the voices who aren’t otherwise being heard.
Meet Amy Millman, the co-founder of Springboard Enterprises, a women-led nonprofit connecting female founders to experts who have “been there, run that.” Amy is a force to be reckoned with — and definitely one of the first who recognized the value of female entrepreneurship and the power of community.
Springboard is now the leading network of influencers, investors, and innovators dedicated to building more high-growth companies led by women. Its diverse portfolio includes nearly 800 women-led companies — 86% of which have raised capital investment.
These companies have created more than $21 billion in value, tens of thousands of new jobs and generated billions in annual revenues. With 200 exits and 20 IPOs, Springboard entrepreneurs are a force across industries.
To Amy, “It’s not about sharks or piranhas, but rather, ‘How can we help?’”
Just like the dolphins that stay together in pods and defend each other, these women entrepreneurs and thought leaders collaborate and help each other network, secure capital, and explore solutions.
Female entrepreneurs are the real heroes.
We like to call them Sheroes.
We need more sheroes — and we need more “amy’s” in our world — who recognize the value of diversity and community, and who aren’t afraid to fight for their vision, and create a better world.
Listen in via iTunes and Spotify as Theo and Bradley of Unconventional Ventures have a conversation with Amy Millman, the fairy grandmother, about her journey, and the importance of community. Listen to this, and every episode of One Vision, on your favorite player.
